Key West Hotels and B&B's

Southernmost on the BeachYou can set up shop in one of many of Old Town's Victorian guesthouses or B&B's (with or without the gingerbread trim), boasting wraparound porches and courtyards filled with palm trees and flowers. Many of these guesthouses were built in the late 19th and early 20th century during Key West's heyday as one of the wealthiest cities in Florida.

Beyond the inns, you can snatch up one of many vacation rentals, stay at a green boutique hotel or book a room at one of the larger upscale chains like the Hilton or Westin, located right on the water. For the penny pinchers, there are budget hotels and motels scattered throughout. Whatever your pick, book well in advance if you're looking to stay during Christmas, New Year's or October's chaotic Fantasy Fest. November through April is considered high season, while the summer brings the heat -- and rate cuts on accommodations.

The Gardens Hotel

Word of Mouth: "My wife and I have stayed at The Gardens for 8 consecutive years and we already have reserved [our next stay]. What more can I say? We consider ourselves sophisticated travelers and don't stay at even average places -- certainly not more than once. The other reviewers have said just about everything -- great accommodations, beautiful setting, perfect location, etc. I would like to focus on the great staff starting with Kate who sets the tone for this great place." -- dissonj

Santa Maria Suites

Marquesa Hotel

The facilities at Marquesa are beautiful, the atmosphere is elegant and relaxing, and the staff goes out of their way to be helpful. This is an exceptional hotel and one that is well deserving of the accolades it has received." -- Steven D

Eden House
Address: 1015 Fleming Street

Word of Mouth: "There are many reasons we love the Eden House but the landscaping/grounds are number one. Second place would be sitting around the pool, chatting with guests from all over, enjoying the killer happy hour -- pretty close to paradise! Every staff member we came in contact with was friendly and helpful as usual. Great location too, feels like a truly hidden gem. Check it out." -- jensam98

Southernmost on the Beach
Address: 508 South Street
Rates: $295 and up
Word of Mouth: "First time at the Southernmost on the Beach and what a great place. The grounds were beautiful, the rooms were small but clean and had everything we needed. Beds were comfy. We loved that you could chill and read or join an activity poolside, or both! We fell in love with this place. Great sunsets, live music, fantastic staff, and the cocktails were just right." -- tylalima
