The Lucerne is a lovely hotel on the Upper West Side at 79th and Amsterdam that offers a good bang for the buck, although some rooms can be small. The building dates back to 1904 but was recently renovated. There's an in-house spa and fitness center, and Wi-Fi access is complimentary. If you're staying on a Thursday evening, check out the weekly complimentary wine hour.
