Buchan Ness Lighthouse

Peterhead Scotland

Buchan Ness Lighthouse sits at Britain's most northeastern point in Peterhead, a busy whitefish port about an hour's drive from Aberdeen. Two well-equipped rental cottages, Skerry and Dundonnie, sit at its base, each with two bedrooms, a bath, a kitchen and a fireplace. The cottages are child-friendly, but some of the area's footpaths may not be. There is no access to the working lighthouse, but be sure to visit the nearby ruins of Slains Castle, said to have inspired "Dracula."
