Tortuga Lodge & Gardens

Across from the airstrip
1 mile north of the Town of Tortuguero
Tortuguero Costa Rica 6941

The Tortuguero River moves slowly at the feet of guests in the downstairs Terrace Rooms. Bats and lizards hold court among almond trees and yellow wildflowers, awaiting the curious on guided walking tours through the hotel's plantation-era gardens. Glassless windows bring in the sounds of the rain forest as well as a soft breeze that helps offset the lack of air-conditioning. All rooms get free Wi-Fi and have private, heated showers. A stand of palm trees is all that separates swimming pool from the meandering river, which beckons for a motorboat tour.
