Mumbai

Although there are plenty of hotels in Mumbai, there are not that many top-class properties in the city center -- many have gravitated to the airport, which is not a great location for tourists. The Marine Drive area is ideal for sweeping sea views, but hotels in this area can be pricey. A better bet for budget travelers is the Colaba/south Mumbai area, where a number of more affordable hotels can be found. As the city can get very hot and humid, be sure to check that your hotel has air-conditioning; a few of the less expensive options may not.
