For intrepid types, the Travelers House gets great reviews from budget travelers. It's noisy, as befits its downtown location near Talaat Harb Square, but it provides some amenities that you don't often find with hostel lodging such as free breakfast and Internet, and airport pick-ups. The staff can also book tours if you want. Some guests have complained about mosquitoes coming in the room, so either ask for repellent or bring your own.
